Online Training Requirements

There are two online training requirements related to Title IX and sexual misconduct.

The Harassment Prevention: A Commonsense Approach online training is mandatory for all faculty and staff members within their first six months of hire. This training takes approximately two hours to complete. To complete this training or to determine if you have already satisfied this training requirement, please log into Workday Learning. For more information or questions about the Harassment Prevention: A Commonsense Approach course, please email the Office of Institutional Equity and Accessibility at: equity@yale.edu

Preventing and Responding to Sexual Misconduct (PRSM) is a required training for faculty, staff, trainees, and graduate and professional school students. This training takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and outlines Yale’s sexual misconduct policies and definitions, campus resources, reporting mechanisms, and general strategies for prevention and response. See below for FAQ’s about this training:

PRSM Training Frequently Asked Questions

How can I access the Preventing and Responding to Sexual Misconduct (PRSM) training?

You can access the PRSM training via Workday Learning

Why am I being asked to complete this training?

Yale is committed to cultivating and maintaining a culture of respect and inclusion, where everyone can pursue their academic and professional aspirations unhindered by discrimination and harassment.  This course is aimed at helping the Yale community understand the policies, definitions, campus resources, and reporting mechanisms related to sexual misconduct. It is also intended to encourage members of the Yale community to reflect on ways that they can play a role in creating a safer and more inclusive Yale.

Do I need to take this training?

PRSM contains important information related to Yale’s policies, resources, and ways in which we can each play a role in preventing sexual misconduct. All active employees, trainees, and graduate and professional school students must take this training.

I thought I completed the PRSM training. Why is it showing up as incomplete on Workday Learning?

There are a few common reasons the training might be showing up as incomplete on Workday Learning.

You may have completed PRSM in a previous academic year but have not fulfilled the training requirement for this year. If this is the case, you should complete the PRSM training again.

Another possibility is that you completed a different training related to sexual harassment. There is a separate two-hour online training that faculty and staff are required to complete within their first six months of hire called Harassment Prevention: A Commonsense Approach. Faculty and staff must complete this training in addition to PRSM.

I am retired/emeritus faculty, do I need to take this training?

Many faculty emeritus are still actively involved with the University and that may include interactions with other faculty, staff, or students. For this reason you are still required to complete the Preventing and Responding to Sexual Misconduct training.

What if I have other questions about the course?

If you have other questions about the PRSM training, please email us at titleix@yale.edu.
